VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Cardi B (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar on October 11, 1992, in New York City and raised in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx) is an American rapper of Dominican and Trinidadian heritage who converted social-media fame and a run on reality television into a historic chart career. Her commercial debut single, "Bodak Yellow" (2017), topped the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first solo female rapper to reach No. 1 since Lauryn Hill in 1998. Her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and in 2019 won Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards, making her the first solo female rapper to win that category. She extended her run with further Hot 100 No. 1 singles in 2020 and 2021, and her second studio album arrived in 2025.

The record

Notes

Statistics: Born October 11, 1992, in New York City (Grammy.com, February 11, 2019) · Invasion of Privacy won Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019, the first win by a solo female rapper in the category (Grammy.com, checked 2026-10-15) · "Bodak Yellow" (2017) was her first No. 1 single and made her the first solo female rapper to top the Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill in 1998 (Grammy.com, February 11, 2019; Britannica Kids) · Five Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles through 'Up' in 2021 is the commonly reported count, but the total is sensitive to how the 2025 second-album era is counted, so the description asserts No. 1 singles in 2020 and 2021 without a career total · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Cardi B's rise is a Black and Latina working-class story told without translation — the Bronx, the club, the timeline, then the Grammy. She did not sand down her accent, her humor, or her past to enter rap's mainstream; the mainstream moved to her. · Photo slot: CLEARED CANDIDATE — Wikimedia Commons File:Cardi B 2021 02.jpg, Anthony Kane (via Vimeo screener), CC BY-SA 3.0, license verified from Commons API metadata on 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7e/Cardi_B_2021_02.jpg; not downloaded — visual pass follows merge per standing pattern.
