Teyana Taylor (born December 10, 1990, in Harlem, New York) is the singer, dancer and actress whose career ran from a teenage Star Trak signing to a Golden Globe. Signed to Pharrell Williams's Star Trak at fifteen and introduced on MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen (2007), she sang on Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) and joined his GOOD Music label in 2012. Her debut album VII (2014) topped Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and her performance in West's "Fade" video, premiered at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, became a cultural flashpoint. After K.T.S.E. (2018) — certified gold by the RIAA in June 2025 — she announced a retirement from music in 2020 and pivoted to acting, winning the National Board of Review's Breakthrough Performance award for A Thousand and One (2023) and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for One Battle After Another (2025). CultureTechLens profiled Taylor in Short #170.
