Mike Tyson (born Michael Gerard Tyson, June 30, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American former professional boxer who became, at 20 years and 4 months, the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history. Raised in Brownsville, Brooklyn, and sent to reform school upstate, he was taken in by trainer Cus D'Amato, turned professional in 1985, and knocked out Trevor Berbick in November 1986 to win the WBC title; by 1987 he had unified the WBC, WBA and IBF belts, and his 91-second knockout of Michael Spinks in June 1988 made him undisputed champion and the most feared fighter of his era. He lost the title to Buster Douglas in Tokyo in 1990, was convicted of rape in 1992 and served three years in prison, regained the WBC and WBA titles in 1996, and was disqualified for biting Evander Holyfield's ears in their 1997 rematch. He retired in 2005, returned for a 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. and a sanctioned 2024 bout against Jake Paul that Netflix reported reached 60 million households, and is the subject of the 2026 Netflix docuseries TYSON (CTL-E-5635) — a record this graph minted before the man himself. His professional record stands at 50 wins (44 by knockout), 7 losses and 2 no contests.
