Shedeur Sanders (born February 7, 2002, in Tyler, Texas) is an American football quarterback whose college career, played under his father, head coach Deion Sanders, made him one of the most watched players in the sport before he reached the NFL. At Jackson State he went 23–3 as a starter across two seasons and was named the SWAC Player of the Year in 2022. At Colorado he set more than 100 school records; in 2024 he threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns and won the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award, second-team AP All-America honors and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Projected by many analysts as a first-round selection, he was instead taken by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, 144th overall, in the 2025 NFL Draft — the slide CultureTechLens examined in Short #180. He appeared for the Browns during the 2025 season, listed on the club's official roster.
