Denny Love, born Denzel Irby on 30 December 1992 in Madison, Wisconsin, is an American actor and comedian whose route to television ran through Chicago. Raised in Madison and educated at Madison West High School, he studied acting at The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, graduating with a BFA in 2015. His television debut came that same year on Chicago P.D., filmed in the city where he had trained, followed by a recurring role on Empire (2016–2017) and guest appearances including Lucifer. His breakthrough arrived in 2019 as Chip "The Colonel" Martin, the scholarship student at the emotional center of Hulu's eight-episode adaptation of John Green's novel Looking for Alaska, a lead role he has described pursuing with deliberate, written-down determination. He appeared in the film Unpregnant (2020) and joined Paramount+'s Mayor of Kingstown as rookie prison guard Kevin Jackson across its 2024–2025 seasons, a recurring run of thirteen episodes. In October 2026 he co-launched Saturday Morning Detention, a weekly YouTube comedy series, extending the panel-comedy work he had done on The Kevin Langue Show.
