Combined Graph record U-07282 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-6059.

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton, born 7 January 1985 in Stevenage, England, is a British Formula One driver for Ferrari and, with Michael Schumacher, the joint-most successful driver in the sport's history. The son of Anthony Hamilton, whose parents emigrated from Grenada to Britain in the 1950s, and Carmen Larbalestier, he was signed to McLaren's young driver programme in 1998 and reached Formula One in 2007 as the series' first Black driver. He missed the title by one point as a rookie, then won the 2008 championship, becoming the first Black driver to win it. After moving to Mercedes in 2013 he won six further titles — 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 — to tie Schumacher's record of seven. He holds the Formula One records for race wins, pole positions and podium finishes. Hamilton joined Ferrari in 2025; his first season there was his first without a Grand Prix podium, and he took his first Ferrari podium with third place at the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix. Through his Mission 44 foundation and his campaigning for a Grand Prix in Africa, he remains the sport's leading voice on diversity.
