Andre Rush, born 7 September 1974 in Columbus, Mississippi, is an American chef and retired United States Army master sergeant. He enlisted in the Army in 1993 and served twenty-four years, cooking as a member of the United States Culinary Arts Team and as senior enlisted aide at West Point, and he began cooking at the White House in 1997, working part-time across the administrations of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump while also serving at the Pentagon, where he was present on 11 September 2001 and afterwards volunteered for combat duties. A photograph of him preparing the White House Iftar dinner in June 2018 made his 24-inch biceps a national story; he is known for performing 2,222 push-ups a day to raise awareness of veteran suicide. After leaving the White House kitchen he moved into television, starring in the restaurant-rescue series Kitchen Commando on Tubi in 2023, and he remains a fixture of Army public life, photographed doing push-ups with soldiers at the Army's 250th birthday festival on the National Mall in June 2025 and visiting soldiers in South Korea that December.
