B.A. Parker is an American writer and audio producer who co-hosts Code Switch, NPR's flagship podcast and radio program on race and identity. Brooklyn-based when her appointment was announced in 2022, she joined host Gene Demby as the program's second host, an expansion funded by a $600,000 Corporation for Public Broadcasting grant secured that April. She came to Code Switch from New York magazine's The Cut podcast, where she had been co-host and lead producer since August 2020. Before that she produced the Nancy podcast at WNYC Studios, worked on the Heavyweight podcast at Gimlet Media and on NPR's Invisibilia, and contributed to This American Life. Public-media station WFYI, presenting her in Indianapolis in November 2022, also credits her career as a film professor. Announcing the appointment, Code Switch executive producer Steve Drummond praised her flair for language and her passion for deeply reported, sound-rich stories told with humor and compassion; Parker herself called the show a necessary beacon for people of color. Episode transcripts show her still introducing herself as a Code Switch host in December 2025, co-presenting the program's History Class series with Demby at the end of that year.
