Combined Graph record U-07818 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-6946.

Samarria Brevard (born September 22, 1993, in Riverside, California) is a goofy-footed American professional skateboarder. In 2014 she became the first African-American female skateboarder to win the Kimberley Diamond Cup Women's Street Championship in South Africa. At X Games Minneapolis 2017 she took silver in Women's Skateboard Street — the first Black woman to medal at the X Games — landing a tre flip down the eight-stair in her final run, and she turned professional for Enjoi Skateboards that year. She was named to the USA Skateboarding National Team in women's street for the Tokyo Olympic qualifying cycle; national-team selection still required earning an Olympic berth through qualifying events, and this record does not list her as a Tokyo Olympic competitor. In 2018 she became the first woman to compete in the X Games Real Street video contest against the men's field.

Notes

Sports Encyclopedia roster CTL-SPE-0240. Firsts disposition: ASSERTED — 'first Black woman to medal at the X Games (silver, Women's Street, Minneapolis 2017)' on Bleacher Report and Essence; 'first African-American female skateboarder to win the Kimberley Diamond Cup Women's Street Championship (2014)' on Wikipedia and Essence. OLYMPIC STATUS HELD PRECISE, per packet instruction: Brevard was a USA Skateboarding NATIONAL TEAM member (women's street, 2020 and 2021 rosters) in the Tokyo qualifying cycle — she is NOT described as an Olympian or Olympic competitor. Loose secondary claims that she 'competed in the 2020 Olympics as part of the first USA Olympic skateboarding team' trace to Wikipedia's wording and are contradicted by the structure ESPN documents (national-team members still had to earn berths) and by Olympedia's Tokyo skateboarding record, which does not list her among the competitors; the claim is shown here, not blended into the description. A further circulating claim (first Black woman with a pro model board, 2016) rests on weaker aggregation and is not asserted. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Brevard's firsts came in the two arenas that set skateboarding's terms — the X Games podium and a street title abroad — earned a decade into a career the industry funded last. The national-team chapter matters as pursuit at the highest level, and the record states it exactly. Photo: HELD — no Commons file found.
