VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Jarad Anthony Higgins, known as Juice WRLD, was a rapper, singer and songwriter from the Chicago area who became the defining voice of emo rap's mainstream breakthrough before his death at twenty-one. Raised in Calumet Park and Homewood, he played piano, drums and guitar as a child, began freestyling in high school, and first recorded as JuiceTheKidd, taking his later name from the film Juice. His 2018 singles "All Girls Are the Same" and "Lucid Dreams" — the latter built on a Sting interpolation and eventually certified diamond — carried his debut album Goodbye & Good Riddance onto the charts, and his second album, Death Race for Love (2019), debuted at number one. His writing confronted heartbreak, anxiety and addiction with unusual directness, and posthumous releases including Legends Never Die have kept his catalog at the center of his generation's listening. He died on December 8, 2019, days after his twenty-first birthday; the Cook County Medical Examiner later ruled the death an accidental overdose. He is remembered with love by the fans — the 999 faithful — for whom his honesty was a lifeline.
