Anderson .Paak
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Brandon Paak Anderson, known as Anderson .Paak, is a singer, rapper, drummer and producer from Oxnard, California, whose music fuses soul, funk, R&B and hip-hop. He worked church drums and odd jobs — including a period of homelessness with his young family — before his 2014 album Venice and a scene-stealing run of features on Dr. Dre's Compton (2015) raised his profile. His 2016 album Malibu earned a GRAMMY nomination, and he followed it with Oxnard (2018) and Ventura (2019), the latter winning Best R&B Album; his single "Bubblin" won Best Rap Performance. A virtuoso live drummer who sings while playing, he also records as half of NxWorries with Knxwledge. In 2021 he joined Bruno Mars as Silk Sonic, and their debut single "Leave the Door Open" became his first Hot 100 number one.
