Atlanta (TV series)

CTL-E-5455 · Work · other · 2016–2022

PROVISIONAL evidence grade of this record

Atlanta, created by Donald Glover and produced by FX Productions, premiered on FX in September 2016 and concluded its fourth and final season on November 10, 2022 — forty-one episodes following Earn, his cousin the rapper Paper Boi, and their circle through an Atlanta rendered half as documentary and half as dream, in episodes that bent the half-hour form toward surrealism, horror, and standalone anthology. Its honors mark firsts: Glover's Emmy for directing the series was the first Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series award given to an African American; he also won Emmy and Golden Globe acting awards, and the series took two Golden Globes for Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy and two Peabody Awards across its run. It is routinely ranked among the greatest series of the twenty-first century. For this graph, Atlanta is the streaming-era shelf's proof of auteur television's Black turn: a series whose city is a state of mind, made by a creator who held writing, acting, directing, and music in one hand and dared the form to keep up.

Notes

Statistics: FX, 2016–2022; 41 episodes (Wikipedia). Creator Donald Glover holds no graph Person record — flagged as a future candidate, not minted in this Works wave. Filed as Work/other: schema v0.2.6 carries no television subtype, and none was invented inside this merge (schema changes are a separate, reviewed step). · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Atlanta treated the half-hour as a short-story collection written by a city. Its records' numbers are small — forty-one episodes — and its shadow is enormous, which is precisely the proportion a citation graph should preserve. · Photo slot: HELD — poster/key art and production stills for this title are copyrighted studio material and were NOT pulled (per CTL-PHOTO-001 and the wave brief: never force non-free key art); no cleared Commons image was verified for this title in this run. Slot honestly HELD pending a cleared visual.
