Abbott Elementary

PROVISIONAL evidence grade of this record

Abbott Elementary, created by and starring Quinta Brunson, premiered on ABC on December 7, 2021, and is ongoing — renewed through a sixth season that premiered in October 2026. A mockumentary set in an underfunded West Philadelphia public school, it restored to broadcast television something the streaming era had nearly retired: the workplace ensemble comedy as civic institution, built around teachers whose optimism is a professional discipline rather than a personality trait. Its honors arrived immediately and compounded: three Golden Globes, including Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy in 2023, with acting wins for Brunson and Tyler James Williams; a Peabody Award for Brunson; and the Television Critics Association's Program of the Year for 2022. Brunson became the first Black woman nominated three times in the Emmy comedy categories in a single cycle and the first Black woman in more than forty years to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series; Sheryl Lee Ralph won the supporting-actress Emmy in a speech that became part of the record itself. The graph files Abbott as the current decade's anchor: proof the broadcast Black sitcom line — Lear to Cosby to Barris — still runs.

Notes

Statistics: ABC, premiered December 7, 2021; ongoing, sixth season premiered October 2026 (Wikipedia, at check time). Creator Quinta Brunson holds no graph Person record — flagged as a future candidate, not minted in this Works wave. Filed as Work/other: schema v0.2.6 carries no television subtype, and none was invented inside this merge (schema changes are a separate, reviewed step). · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: A hit network comedy about public-school teachers, made by a former internet comedian, winning the industry's oldest prizes: Abbott is the shelf's evidence that the form's center held. The record is written in the present tense because the series is still earning it. · Photo slot: HELD — poster/key art and production stills for this title are copyrighted studio material and were NOT pulled (per CTL-PHOTO-001 and the wave brief: never force non-free key art); no cleared Commons image was verified for this title in this run. Slot honestly HELD pending a cleared visual.
