PROVISIONAL evidence grade of this record

Insecure, created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore and grown from Rae's web series Awkward Black Girl, premiered on HBO in the fall of 2016 — online on September 23 and on the network on October 9 — and ended its run on December 26, 2021, after five seasons following Issa Dee and her friends through the work, rent, and relationships of Black Los Angeles in their late twenties and thirties. It is a Peabody Award-winning series; the American Film Institute named it one of the top ten television programs of 2017; and its fourth season drew eight Primetime Emmy nominations, including the series' first nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Rae herself earning three Emmy and three Golden Globe lead-actress nominations across the run. Its lineage is the shelf's own: Rae has cited Living Single openly, and Insecure carried the friendship-sitcom form into the premium-cable era — shorter seasons, single camera, a city shot like a hometown rather than a backdrop. The graph files it as the 2010s' second anchor beside Black-ish: the broadcast form's intimate, independent sibling.

Notes

Statistics: HBO, 2016–2021; 5 seasons (Wikipedia). Co-creator Issa Rae holds no graph Person record — flagged as a future candidate, not minted in this Works wave. The research file flagged the series' craft-category Emmy wins for category verification before use; this record asserts nominations only. Filed as Work/other: schema v0.2.6 carries no television subtype, and none was invented inside this merge (schema changes are a separate, reviewed step). · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Insecure is what the friendship sitcom became when its creator owned the premise from a web series up. The graph's line — Bowser to Akil to Rae — is now three records long, and this is its premium-cable terminus. · Photo slot: HELD — poster/key art and production stills for this title are copyrighted studio material and were NOT pulled (per CTL-PHOTO-001 and the wave brief: never force non-free key art); no cleared Commons image was verified for this title in this run. Slot honestly HELD pending a cleared visual.
