PROVISIONAL evidence grade of this record

Get Out, Jordan Peele's directorial debut — written and co-produced by Peele through his Monkeypaw Productions with Blumhouse and QC Entertainment, and distributed by Universal Pictures — premiered at Sundance on January 23, 2017, and opened in the United States that February 24. A horror film built on a liberal family's country estate and the machinery hidden under its manners, it converted the microaggression into a plot engine and the sunken place into a permanent American metaphor. From four Academy Award nominations — Best Picture, Director, and Actor for Daniel Kaluuya among them — Peele won Best Original Screenplay. It grossed $259.9 million worldwide on a $4.5 million budget, and Peele became the first African-American writer-director whose debut film passed $200 million worldwide. In 2021 the Writers Guild of America West named its screenplay the greatest of the twenty-first century. The graph files Get Out as the horror shelf's foundation and the 2010s' sharpest genre argument: the monster was the welcome.

Notes

Statistics: Universal Pictures, 2017; Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Director Jordan Peele holds no graph Person record — flagged as a future candidate. · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Get Out weaponized politeness. The record keeps its economics in view — four and a half million in, a quarter-billion out — because the gross is the industry's own confession that the audience for Black horror's intelligence had been there all along. · Photo slot: HELD — poster/key art and production stills for this title are copyrighted studio material and were NOT pulled (per CTL-PHOTO-001 and the wave brief: never force non-free key art); no cleared Commons image was verified for this title in this run. Slot honestly HELD pending a cleared visual.
