The Hot Boys are the Uptown New Orleans hip-hop group formed in 1997 on Cash Money Records, composed of B.G., Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk. The quartet first appeared together on B.G.'s It's All on U, Vol. 1 and released its debut album, Get It How U Live!, in 1997 to regional success. After Cash Money's 1998 distribution deal with Universal Records, the group released Guerrilla Warfare (July 27, 1999), produced entirely by Mannie Fresh: it debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, sold 142,000 copies in its first week, and was certified platinum by the RIAA. Its singles 'We On Fire' and 'I Need a Hot Girl' carried the Cash Money sound nationally. The group then came apart: Juvenile, Turk and B.G. left Cash Money, citing financial mismanagement, leaving Lil Wayne as the only member still signed; a third album, Let 'Em Burn (2003), was assembled from recordings made between 1998 and 2000. All four members reunited on record on a 2012 remix of Turk's 'Zip It,' and a full stage reunion remained elusive for two more decades.

Notes

STAGED 2026-10-16 (747 Program, Named Remainders & Further Gaps, Batch D) — not merged; awaits founder merge go. Gate A: no match in the live graph (3,443 entities) under exact or name screening, 2026-10-16 (the token hit 'Juvenile' at CTL-E-4984 is a City Club of Chicago juvenile-justice program title, not the rapper — a documented false artifact). Typing: Person/subtype 'group' per PPL-001 precedent. CONFLICTS CARRIED, NOT BLENDED: (1) Get It How U Live! sales — 400,000 units (Wikipedia main text) vs 'over 300,000 copies primarily in New Orleans' (syndicated group histories); neither figure is asserted in the description. (2) Cash Money–Universal deal value — $30 million (group histories) vs '$3 million' as printed in one Source anniversary piece. (3) Breakup dating — members' exits dated 2001 in some sources, 'by 2003' in Wikipedia; Let 'Em Burn (2003) is the undisputed final album. The July 2024 Essence Festival billing did NOT produce a four-member performance (Uproxx: Wayne performed a separate solo set; Turk absent); the Nov. 2, 2024 Lil WeezyAna Fest set was billed as the quartet's first performance since 2003 (Uproxx) — carried as billed, not independently verified here. Photo HELD — see media. MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Person records carry no map slot under the media-layer rule; maps attach to places and institutions.) | visual_assets = HELD: No file-page-level PHOTO-001 license verification completed at staging; slot held rather than filled with an u | chart = FILLED (CTL-created timeline built only from this record's sourced facts; CTL-branded palette (black / deep red / gold) | video = HELD (No CTL Short bills the Hot Boys. Short #179 bills member Lil Wayne by name and rides his record (CTL-E-5678); ) | audio = HELD (No CTL-owned or rights-cleared matching-entity audio exists at staging. The group's recordings are Cash Money/)
