Combined Graph record U-07210 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-5974.

José Ramírez, born 17 September 1992 in Baní, Dominican Republic, is a switch-hitting third baseman who has spent his entire major league career with Cleveland. Signed as an amateur free agent at 17, he debuted on 1 September 2013 and broke through in 2016, helping Cleveland reach that year's World Series. He became the franchise's defining player: a six-time Silver Slugger winner who has finished in the top five of American League MVP voting six times and rewritten the club record book, leading the franchise in extra-base hits. Rather than test free agency, Ramírez signed successive extensions to stay in Cleveland, most recently a seven-year, $175 million deal in January 2026, declaring himself “50% Dominican, 50% Clevelander.” In October 2026 he was still Cleveland's engine, producing in the club's postseason series. CTL stages him as an Afro-Dominican ballplayer; the individual descent documentation is named as a gap in this record's notes.

Notes

Staged 2026-10-16 under CTL-GOV-006 (Census Intake Wave 4 — 747 Program, Wave 10; 40-record packet). Gate A (2026-10-16): no José Ramírez entity in the live graph at 3,683 entities (exact / normalized / alias + token containment); ID CTL-E-5974 assigned at assembly. Supply: 747 Supply Ledger, Tier 3 — Famous Birthdays ABSENT census, readiness rank 1099 (Baseball Players list). The census supplied the NAME ONLY; no fact in this record is sourced to it (CTL-GOV-004). SCOPE GATE: PASS — Afro-Dominican (PROVISIONAL) — Dominican-born (Baní) player documented at the contextual level: Burgos's Hall of Fame-consulted scholarship treats Dominican major leaguers of African descent as Black players within MLB's racial history. GAP: no source retrieved in this pass states Ramírez's African descent individually or quotes a self-identification; tier held at Provisional until one is filed. Vital status: LIVING — produced for Cleveland in its October 2026 postseason series (Baseball Musings, 8 October 2026). STATISTICS (sourced, dated): Entering 6 April 2026 (Akron Beacon Journal): 286 HR, 954 RBI, 289 SB, 1,674 hits, franchise-record games and extra-base hits; updated June 2026 (Latino Sports): 293 HR, 980 RBI, 307 SB. MEDIA: photo HELD (candidate: Wikimedia Commons portrait of Ramírez in a Cleveland uniform; no file page read at file-page level — CTL-PHOTO-001; CTL-created graphic is the standing alternative); chart FILLED (charts/chart-ctl-e-5974-jose-ramirez.svg); video HELD (Shorts Link Map checked — no matching CTL Short); audio HELD (no rights basis). Coordinator verification pass (2026-10-16): one additional targeted search for individual-level Afro-Latino / African-descent documentation was run at assembly for this record; no citable individual-level source was found, so the Provisional cap and the named gap stand, pending a sourced document or a founder scope ruling (precedent: Romeo Santos, Census Intake Wave 3). MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Person records carry no map slot under the media-layer rule; maps attach to places and institutions.) | visual_assets = HELD: | chart = FILLED (CTL-created SVG (black / deep red / gold) built only from this record's sourced facts) | video = HELD (No matching-entity CTL Short in the Shorts Link Map catalog (checked by name and variants), and no official/em) | audio = HELD (No CTL-owned or rights-cleared matching-entity audio at staging; the subject's own recordings/appearances are )
