George Foreman (born George Edward Foreman on 10 January 1949 in Marshall, Texas; died 21 March 2025 in Houston, Texas) was an American boxer, minister and entrepreneur who twice held the world heavyweight championship, twenty years apart. Raised in Houston's Fifth Ward, he learned to box in a Job Corps camp and won the heavyweight gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. In January 1973 he knocked out the unbeaten Joe Frazier in two rounds in Kingston, Jamaica, to take the title, and he lost it to Muhammad Ali in the eighth round of the 'Rumble in the Jungle' in Kinshasa in October 1974. He retired in 1977, became an ordained minister, and returned a decade later; on 5 November 1994, at 45, he knocked out Michael Moorer to regain the championship, becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in history. He retired for good in 1997 with a record of 76 wins, 68 by knockout, against 5 losses, and reached a second, wider fame as the name behind the George Foreman Grill. His family announced his death, at 76, in March 2025. This record is a tribute.
