Useful, Right Now

Five CultureTechLens research slices, built to be used — not admired. Each one answers a question people are already asking, in a form that is easy to find, easy to quote, and easy to verify: the finding on top, the graded evidence underneath.

The five

  • Chicago's Health Needs, Mapped — for ward staff, mutual aid, public-health students, reporters and funders: food, housing, utilities and four more needs across all 791 Chicago census tracts, and the 143 tracts where all seven stack.
  • Who Preserves Black Chicago? — for researchers, students, librarians and families: the directory of institutions and collections holding Black Chicago's record, and where the record actually lives now.
  • Black Invention Myths, Checked — for teachers, parents and programmers: twelve circulated invention claims adjudicated against patent records, plus the 22 verified patents.
  • Did the Chicago Defender Cause the Great Migration? — for journalists, students and editors: one famous claim, graded, with the corrected sentence ready to use.
  • Black Medicine — A Librarian Slice (Preview) — for health-science librarians: ten entries from CTL's staged Black Medicine encyclopedia, published as a preview with its open gate on its face.

How these are built

Nothing here is new research written for show. Each slice is a repackage of a completed, graded CultureTechLens research product — two public-health briefs, a preservation brief, a technology flagship, a newspaper dossier, an encyclopedia build — cut down to the part an outsider needs, with its claim ledger one click underneath on the page itself. Grades used across the site: VERIFIED, SUPPORTED, PROVISIONAL, DISPUTED, UNRESOLVED.

Trust & evidence

Evidence before authority. CultureTechLens publishes its methods, its limits, and its corrections alongside its findings. Claims carry grades — VERIFIED, SUPPORTED, PROVISIONAL, DISPUTED, UNRESOLVED — and unknowns are never reported as zero.

Every claim graded. Every source named. Every correction public — see the corrections log.
