Rihanna
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados, and raised in Bridgetown, is a Barbadian singer, actress, and businesswoman whose career redefined the scale of a pop star from the Caribbean. Discovered in Barbados by producer Evan Rogers in 2003, she recorded demos in the United States and, after auditioning in early 2005 for Jay-Z, then president of Def Jam Recordings, signed with the label the same day. Her Caribbean-influenced debut Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006) reached the Billboard 200 top ten, before Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) and its single 'Umbrella' made her a global star and brought her first Grammy Award. Through Rated R (2009), Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), and Unapologetic (2012), her first Billboard 200 number one, she sustained a run of chart-topping singles, then asserted greater creative control on Anti (2016), her second number-one album. Since 2016 she has released no new studio album, focusing on her Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty businesses, film roles, philanthropy through the Clara Lionel Foundation, and a celebrated Super Bowl LVII halftime performance in 2023.

Notes
Statistics: 9 Grammy wins from 34 nominations (Grammy.com artist page, accessed 2026-10-15) · 14 Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, the 14th being 'Work' in 2016 (artist official bio, RihannaNow.com; Billboard reporting via search) · 8 studio albums from Music of the Sun (2005) to Anti (2016), with Unapologetic (2012) and Anti (2016) as her two Billboard 200 number ones (official bio / Billboard reporting) · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Rihanna belongs in CTL not only as a hitmaker but as a case study in ownership — a Bridgetown teenager who turned a Def Jam audition into a catalog, then into Fenty, shifting power from performing other people's brands to owning her own. Her long album silence since Anti makes the business chapter, not a comeback narrative, the honest frame. · Photo slot: CLEARED CANDIDATE — Wikimedia Commons File:Rihanna at Fort Belvoir.jpg, Exchange Associate, CC BY 2.0, license verified from Commons API metadata on 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/26/Rihanna_at_Fort_Belvoir.jpg; not downloaded — visual pass follows merge per standing pattern.
