Timbaland
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Timothy Mosley, known as Timbaland, is a record producer, songwriter and rapper from Norfolk, Virginia, whose off-kilter rhythms redrew the sound of R&B and hip-hop in the late 1990s. Starting as a teenage DJ, he broke through in 1996 producing Ginuwine's debut album and most of Aaliyah's One in a Million, then produced Missy Elliott's debut Supa Dupa Fly the following year. His signature style — stuttering drum programming, unusual samples and space left deliberately in the groove — powered hits for Jay-Z, Ludacris and Nelly Furtado, and defined Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds era. As a solo artist he scored hits including "Give It to Me" and "Apologize" with OneRepublic. In 2020 he co-created the Verzuz livestream series with Swizz Beatz, and in 2024 he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Notes
Statistics: 4 GRAMMY Awards won (ABC Audio/Songwriters Hall of Fame coverage, 2024); Billboard ranked him No. 3 on its list of the 50 greatest producers of the 21st century (per 313 Presents biography); inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2024. Nomination totals conflict across sources (21 vs 22) and are therefore not asserted. · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — DRAFT — Timbaland is the rare producer whose name functions as a genre marker: two decades of hits carry his rhythmic fingerprint before a vocalist ever enters. CTL files him as a cornerstone of the Virginia-to-everywhere production line that runs through Missy Elliott and Aaliyah. · Photo slot: CLEARED — Wikimedia Commons File:Timbaland (47851240952).jpg, Collision Conf, CC BY 2.0, verified via Commons API 2026-10-15; direct URL https://thumb.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/57/Timbaland_%2847851240952%29.jpg/1920px-Timbaland_%2847851240952%29.jpg?utm_source=commons.wikimedia.org&utm_campaign=imageinfo&utm_content=thumbnail; master in packet photos/ as timbaland.jpg.
