Bryson Tiller
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Louisville singer and rapper who named a genre with a single word, fusing trap's drum programming to R&B's confessional songwriting. Bryson Djuan Tiller was born on January 2, 1993, in Louisville, Kentucky, and began recording as a teenager before uploading the single Don't to SoundCloud in 2014. The song peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, won him a contract with RCA Records, and anchored his debut album Trapsoul (2015), a top-ten Billboard 200 entry later certified triple platinum, whose singles Exchange and Sorry Not Sorry made his muted, melancholic style a template for a generation of singers. His second album True to Self debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2017, and that year he appeared alongside Rihanna on DJ Khaled's Wild Thoughts, which peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100. Anniversary (2020), released on Trapsoul's fifth anniversary, returned him to the top five, and a self-titled album followed in 2024, alongside a steady run of collaborations including H.E.R.'s Could've Been and Summer Walker's Playing Games.

Notes
Statistics: Born January 2, 1993, in Louisville, Kentucky (biographical summaries, accessed October 15, 2026) · Don't peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 (biographical summaries) · Trapsoul certified triple platinum by the RIAA and True to Self debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (Sony Music Canada) · Wild Thoughts peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Sony Music Canada) · CONFLICT NOTED: career Grammy nomination totals differ by source — three in one biographical summary, four in others — so no career total is asserted in the description; the individually documented nominations (Exchange; Could've Been) are stated in the edges and label summary · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — Trapsoul did what the best debuts do: it gave a scattered sound a name and a capital city. Tiller's reserve — few interviews, long silences between albums — became part of the record's meaning. CTL files him as the architect of trap-soul and a Louisville landmark in human form. · Photo slot: CLEARED — Wikimedia Commons File:Bryson Tiller August 2018.jpg, AtlantaFX, CC BY 3.0, verified via Commons API 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/70/Bryson_Tiller_August_2018.jpg?utm_source=commons.wikimedia.org&utm_campaign=imageinfo&utm_content=thumbnail_unscaled; master in packet photos/.
