VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Durk Banks, known as Lil Durk, is a rapper and singer from Chicago's Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, and a central figure in the city's drill movement. He began releasing mixtapes in 2011 through Only the Family, the collective and label he founded, and built a regional following with the Signed to the Streets series before signing with Def Jam. After going independent, his melodic, confessional style carried him to the top of the charts: The Voice of the Heroes, his 2021 collaboration with Lil Baby, and his solo album 7220 both debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. His 2023 album Almost Healed produced "All My Life," featuring J. Cole, which won the GRAMMY Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance. His late protégé King Von was OTF's breakout star.

Notes

Statistics: Born October 19, 1992, Chicago (AllMusic); founded Only the Family (OTF) in 2010 (AllMusic); two Billboard 200 No. 1 albums — The Voice of the Heroes (2021, with Lil Baby) and 7220 (2022) (AllMusic); "All My Life" (feat. J. Cole) won Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards and peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 (AllMusic). Legal-name middle name is rendered "Derrick" by AllMusic and "Devontay" by other sources; both are carried in aliases pending a primary document. · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — DRAFT — Durk turned drill's local reportage into a melodic, chart-topping confessional form without sanding off its Chicago specificity. CTL files him as the commercial summit of the South Side drill generation — and as the mentor-node through which King Von reached the world. · Photo slot: CLEARED — Wikimedia Commons File:Lil Durk in 2022.png, JD Sports, CC BY 3.0, verified via Commons API 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/Lil_Durk_in_2022.png?utm_source=commons.wikimedia.org&utm_campaign=imageinfo&utm_content=thumbnail_unscaled; master in packet photos/ as lil-durk.png. · Source note: post-2024 federal legal proceedings were reported in low-authority sources with conflicting outcomes during research; no legal status is asserted in this record under GOV-004 pending AP/Reuters-tier sourcing.
