VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Bruno Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez on October 8, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer whose artistry is rooted openly in Black American musical traditions. Raised in a musical family, he performed as a child impersonating Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, and absorbed the doo-wop, Motown, funk, soul, and R&B of Little Richard, the Temptations, New Edition, and Babyface alongside rock and hip-hop. After early work as a songwriter, his solo albums Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010), Unorthodox Jukebox (2012), and 24K Magic (2016), which won the Grammy for Album of the Year, made him a defining pop showman of his generation. In 2021 he formed Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak; their retro-soul album An Evening with Silk Sonic won wide acclaim, and its lead single, "Leave the Door Open," won Record and Song of the Year at the 2022 Grammys. Mars names his debts plainly and performs them as craft, not costume.

Notes

Statistics: Born October 8, 1985, Honolulu, Hawaii (Britannica-derived biographies / artist profiles) · 24K Magic won Album of the Year at the 60th Grammy Awards, January 28, 2018 · Silk Sonic's single won 4 Grammy Awards on April 3, 2022: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song (SPIN) · Career totals of 16 Grammy wins from 36 nominations through the February 2026 ceremony, attributed to the Recording Academy by Popfiltr — secondary attribution, weakest statistic in this record · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Mars is in CTL's canon as Silk Sonic's other half, and the honest frame is apprenticeship: a Filipino and Puerto Rican kid from Honolulu who studied Black masters until the study became his own voice. Credit the lineage, as he does, and judge the craft on its merits. · Photo slot: CLEARED CANDIDATE — Wikimedia Commons File:Bruno Mars, Las Vegas 2010.jpg, Chrizta T., CC BY 2.0, license verified from Commons API metadata on 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fa/Bruno_Mars%2C_Las_Vegas_2010.jpg; not downloaded — visual pass follows merge per standing pattern.
