DJ Spinderella (born Deidra Roper on August 3, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York — some listings give 1971) is the DJ and producer who completed Salt-N-Pepa's classic lineup. Selected by producer Hurby 'Luv Bug' Azor in 1987, at sixteen, to replace the group's original DJ, she played on the trio's run of gold and platinum records, produced tracks on its albums, and shared its 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group and its 2021 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In January 2019 she was removed from the group's touring lineup; she stated publicly that she had received a termination email, and she sued James and Denton over royalties and contract claims. The case was resolved in a confidential settlement, and the trio later appeared together again, including the group's 2022 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. On November 8, 2025, she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with Salt-N-Pepa — the first female DJ so honored — and in 2026 she told People the trio was 'in a good space' and touring together again.
