Very Necessary (1993) sold more than five million copies in the United States, and the group won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Denton told her own story in the 2008 memoir Let's Talk About Pep. Salt-N-Pepa received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2025 in the Musical Influence category.
