Ciara
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Atlanta-raised singer, songwriter and dancer whose debut made her the first lady of crunk&B and whose choreography-first artistry has sustained a two-decade career. Ciara Princess Harris was born on October 25, 1985, in Austin, Texas, grew up in a military family that eventually settled in Atlanta, and was discovered by producer Jazze Pha. Her debut album Goodies (2004) sent its title track to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while 1, 2 Step, featuring Missy Elliott, and Oh, featuring Ludacris, both peaked at No. 2. Her second album, Ciara: The Evolution (2006), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Across the following decade she scored further top-ten singles including Love Sex Magic with Justin Timberlake and Body Party, won a Grammy Award as a featured artist on Missy Elliott's Lose Control, and in 2018 reached a new generation when Level Up became a viral dance phenomenon. She has since expanded into entrepreneurship, founding her label Beauty Marks Entertainment and releasing Beauty Marks (2019) through her own imprint.

Notes
Statistics: Born October 25, 1985 (GRAMMY-era biographical summaries, accessed October 15, 2026) · One Grammy win from five nominations (GRAMMY.com artist page) · Goodies (single) reached No. 1 and 1, 2 Step and Oh No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (biographical summaries) · Ciara: The Evolution reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (biographical summaries) · CONFLICT NOTED: birthplace is given as Austin, Texas in some references and Fort Hood, Texas in others, and the Goodies album certification as triple platinum in older sources and quadruple platinum in current ones; the description follows Austin and asserts no album certification level · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — Ciara's instrument is the whole body: she is the rare R&B star whose choreography is cited as fluently as her singles. CTL files her as Atlanta's crunk&B pioneer turned independent-label owner — a debut-era hitmaker who outlasted the system that launched her by becoming her own label. · Photo slot: CLEARED — Wikimedia Commons File:Ciara 2019.png, Unofficial, CC BY 3.0, verified via Commons API 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/33/Ciara_2019.png?utm_source=commons.wikimedia.org&utm_campaign=imageinfo&utm_content=thumbnail_unscaled; master in packet photos/.
