Tinashe
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Kentucky-born, Los Angeles-raised singer, dancer and actress who began as a child performer, survived the major-label machine, and rebuilt herself as one of independent R&B's most durable artists. Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe was born on February 6, 1993, in Lexington, Kentucky, worked as a child actor and model, and sang in the girl group the Stunners from 2007 until their 2011 split. Recording mixtapes in her home studio, she signed with RCA Records and broke through with the single 2 On (2014), featuring ScHoolboy Q, which topped the Rhythmic airplay chart and peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 ahead of her debut album Aquarius. Nightride (2016) and Joyride (2018) completed her RCA trilogy. Independent, she released Songs for You (2019), 333 (2021), BB/Ang3l (2023) and Quantum Baby (2024), whose single Nasty became her first solo Hot 100 entry in a decade. A 2025 remix of No Broke Boys carried her back to the top 40, and in 2026 she returned to a major label with her eighth album, Popstar, on Atlantic.
