Travis Scott
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Travis Scott, born Jacques Bermon Webster II in Houston, Texas, in 1991, is an American rapper, singer and producer known for heavily produced, atmospheric recordings and large-scale live spectacle. After early mixtapes including Owl Pharaoh and Days Before Rodeo, his debut studio album Rodeo appeared in 2015. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, released in 2016, became his first number-one album on the Billboard 200. Astroworld, named for a closed Houston amusement park, followed in 2018 and produced Sicko Mode, his first Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, made with Drake. Through his Cactus Jack imprint he has released collective projects and built a brand extending into fashion and live events. Utopia, released in 2023 after a long gap between studio albums, also debuted at number one. His career also carries a grave public record: a crowd crush during his Astroworld Festival set in Houston on November 5, 2021, killed ten people, an event that prompted wide scrutiny of festival safety and remains part of any honest account of his public life.
