Tyler, the Creator
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
Tyler, the Creator, born Tyler Gregory Okonma in California in 1991, is an American rapper, producer, designer and visual artist who emerged as the co-founder and leader of the Los Angeles collective Odd Future. His self-released Bastard in 2009 and Goblin in 2011, driven by the single Yonkers, brought confrontational, horror-influenced early work to a wide young audience. From Wolf onward his writing and production opened toward jazz, soul and R&B, a turn confirmed by the acclaim for Flower Boy in 2017. Igor in 2019 and Call Me If You Get Lost in 2021 both debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and each won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. Chromakopia in 2024 also debuted at number one in the United States. Alongside recording, Okonma built the Golf Wang clothing line, the luxury label Golf le Fleur and the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival festival, making design and world-building a continuous part of the music rather than merchandise added afterward.
