VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Brent Faiyaz, born Christopher Brent Wood in Columbia, Maryland, in 1995, is an American singer, songwriter and producer who built a major career in contemporary R&B largely outside the traditional major-label album cycle. He first reached a national audience as a featured voice, with Shy Glizzy, on GoldLink's 2016 single Crew, a recording that later earned a Grammy nomination. Faiyaz is also the lead singer of Sonder, the trio he formed with producers Atu and Dpat. His solo work moves from the debut album Sonder Son in 2017 through the EP Fuck the World, his first Billboard 200 entry, to Wasteland in 2022, which reached number two on that chart and carried collaborations with Drake and Tyler, the Creator. In 2023 he released the mixtape Larger than Life and founded ISO Supremacy, an independent creative company and label, extending an approach in which ownership, pacing and a moody, atmospheric slow-jam sound have remained central to his public identity.

Note: some secondary summaries misdate the Crew nomination to the 59th Grammys; the Academy page is followed here. · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — An independent-era R&B singer whose importance lies as much in ownership and pacing as in hits; the Crew-to-Wasteland arc is the cleanest entry point. · Photo slot: CLEARED — Wikimedia Commons File:Brent Faiyaz Live.jpg, Hopex9, CC0, verified via Commons API 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/35/Brent_Faiyaz_Live.jpg; master in packet photos/.
