VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. in Long Beach, California, in 1971, is an American rapper, producer, actor and broadcaster whose laid-back delivery became one of the most recognisable voices in hip-hop. He came to national attention in 1992 through Dr. Dre's single Deep Cover and Dre's album The Chronic, including the hit Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang. His own debut, Doggystyle, released by Death Row Records in 1993 and produced by Dre, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced the singles What's My Name? and Gin and Juice. In the decades since he has moved across labels and styles, released a gospel album, acted in film and television, coached on The Voice, and become a familiar Olympic broadcaster. In 2022 he acquired Death Row Records, the label that launched him, and co-headlined the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. Few rappers have travelled so completely from West Coast gangsta rap's centre to broad American popular culture while keeping their original persona intact.
